Averbis Terminology Platform
The Averbis Terminology Platform (ATP) provides innovative tools for classifications for various fields of expertise.
- With the Averbis Mapping Tool, natural linguistic entries are automatically classified according to codes of a corresponding terminology system.
- The terminology browser provides an efficient key word search to conveniently navigate through the hierarchically classified terminologies.
- With the terminology editor it is possible to establish semantic interoperability among the various classification systems.
Examples from the Health Sector
While an attending doctor codifies a diagnosis for medical documentation and billing based on classification, he or she can, for example, simultaneously be provided with relevant research results, prepare layman-friendly information for the patient and search for appropriate medication in pharmaceutical information systems, taking contraindications into account. If for instance health-related information is coded with the International Classification for Diseases (ICD10), an effective key word search and the graphic Body Key enable intuitive, layman-friendly access to medical information on health portals.
Example from the Library Field
Literature inventories are manually compiled, classified and indexed with the help of catalogue and key word systems such as the Dewey Decimal Classification (DCC) and the Key Word Norm File of the German National Library (Schlagwortnormdatei der Deutschen Nationalbibliothek, SWD). With the Averbis Terminology Platform target categories and controlled vocabulary can be imported, created, edited and searched. The resulting terminology serves the automatic classification and/or indexing of library contents.
